cochin rooster personality?

This is kinda off topic. Ok yes it is but are there any clean legged cochins?

My son and I were just having the same conversation, lovely birds--but the mud (and other stuff) in the field would cake on those leg feathers.

Aw! He looks just like my blue cochin roo, Clem. I also have a golden cochin roo that we swore was a pullet until he started crowing at 10 months. Unfortunately once that testosterone hit my sweet little "hen" that I used to carry around like a lapdog became a bitey little (well, big) jerk. But my big blue guy is still very sweet anyway!

Just remember breeding blues not all you babys will be blue. BTW buff giant cochin are on the top of my "to get list".

As for the mud, it rains here A LOT, and yes, they do get mud on their foot-feathers. However, it's not as bad as you might expect (the mud on their feet - not the rain - we are in a rainforest of sorts!)

Another question, this time about Cohin hens. Are they all this quiet? Not even and egg song, just quiet little talkong noises. Just asking since my urban dwelling coworker who has a small child wants hens. I thought Cochins would be perfect! but I want to make sure they are quiet in general, that ours are oddballs.

Ours is quiet, sweet and calm. Our 5 yr old daughter goes into the run with him and he just leaves her alone. He's also very lazy, doesn't get up to crow until 8:45 in the morning!
