Hope this is the right place to post . I was wondering if anyone could help me figure out what colors my rooster will throw with my hens ? I'm a bit confused by the whole chicken color genetics :) I've got a red roo a golden laced hen and a silver pencil hen .
Thanks :)

I wish there was a simple answer for your question, however the genetics of poultry is incredibly complicated and there is no way of predicting what you would get. If you actually have a golden laced and a silver penciled it would be a shame to breed them to anything other than their own colors. So maybe you could start shopping for a couple of roosters, a golden laced and a silver penciled.

Very complicated I've known rabbit genetics for years but the chicken genetics are going right over my head :) They may not be what I think they are I'm just going off pictures I've seen online :) These are just for fun . I'm not really looking to breed them all the time I'd just like to add a few more to my flock :)
Not the best pictures I'll try and catch them in the coop tommorrow

not for sure i'm seeing them properly, but cochins don't have straight tail feathers like i'm seeing on your girls... they have round butts. LOL

Yeah the pictures are at a weird angle lol . The possible gold usually has a more rounded back end but the bratty duck decided to pluck her :) I've had the other girl a year and I cant at the moment remember what her back end looks like lol I'll catch them in the shed in the morning and snap some better pictures :)

got a few pics today. unfortunately my hands weren't as steady as they should have been, and everyone was moving too fast LOL

it seems that even tho my roo is black-based mille fleur, i'm getting more blues from him and his 2 girls (blue partridge split mille) than anything else...
this little girl wouldn't turn around!

i'm thinking this little guy's a keeper... he's got a way better tail than his daddy, that's for sure. 8)
don't know if anyone remembers my 'skunklet' chick back in nov/dec...

this is him today...
