Ok I got a couple of better pics of my cochins. My partridge (?) likes to bite, but loves being held. Is that a hen thing? Do partridge roos start out looking like this? The older two are 6 weeks. The little guys are 3 weeks. The baby blues are standard size and very sweet. My black one is a kitten and follows me everywhere. I may need to rehome some roos if I have too many, so I could really use some input on sex from all of you experts. Please!! and Thanks you.

I have some red Cochins and working on to improve them sould I breed to a white or a buff
buff has dilution genes that inhibit the dark red, white masks all colors and can hide a multitude of other mutations, most of which you don't want in the reds.
worst case, a buff would be closer than anything else, but IMO not a good idea since you'd be generations getting back to the dark red color.

there ARE others breeding reds, so it would probably be in the best interest to get some stock from them to work with, rather than introducing other colors.

Love the blue/lavender ones I'm hoping mine are the same color

How much should I worry about size/weight when it comes to my rooster? I know the standard bantam weights are 26 cockerel/30 cock but my 5 1/2 month old mottled boy is already 39.5 oz. He was the best type of my four roosters and the only one I kept from the last hatch, but just very beefy. I had been feeding him Blue Seal Finish feed through the winter, could that account for some of the weight? Would you keep him in your breeding program if his weight was the only fault? His eyes have gotten more orange since the photos below... He still has quite a bit of filling in to do yet at only 5 1/2 months I imagine. :(
