Cochin Thread!!!

I have two barred cochins one is definitely a roo and im not sure of the other this is my first time rasing large fowl cochins and she has a small comb thats not red but has wattles that are red. and the roo has a red comb and a red wattles

This is my Bantam Cochin Frizzle: (That's the best I can do with the pic; I even tried to edit it and make it large. Sorry) This is when she was just getting good and feathered out. I'll get a current picture of her soon, if anyone wants to see it. Her name is Snoodle (after the VeggieTales character who couldn't fly; DH named her that). She's our only pet chicken, b/c she has fallen me in love with her. lol We (more DH than me) would NEVER buy a pet chicken, but we ended up with her on accident, so I tell DH he can't eat her b/c us having her was an act of God (which I truly believe). Anyway, she's my Snoodle Doodle Baby Girl and I love her. She's so sweet, she actually comes up to me to be petted, which I never expected any of my chickens to do. lol
I love Snoodle. Aren't they just sweethearts? My only Cochin acts exactly like yours and it's for that reason that I love her so much. Looks like you got a good one too.
Reba is one of my most photogenic hens.
And yours is just absolutely beautiful, isn't she? Thanks for sharing!

I like those! I was thinking maybe Galileo, but I suppose that might sound a little too sophisticated for a chicken.
I have a lemon blue named Arabella which my family thought was a crazy name for a chicken but we all have a Cochin and they picked their names. I like the name Arabella so I named her that because it made me happy but any way what I'm trying to say is it doesn't matter if it is or not as long as it makes you happy..

Yup, and I have Cochins because I got chickens as stress relief, not to make money or fame - lol.
I got my first birds 5 years ago and I still have never regretted it a single day, not even on a below freezing day or a 105* day. I sure have had a broken heart more than a few times but I have smiled and laughed a lot more.
I have Marans and Ameraucanas now too + one Showgirl. I recently got a Sussex and am going to trade out my Ameraucanas for them because the Ameraucanas are, relatively, flighty and the Sussex are more like Cochins.
I know, I am "preachin to the choir" on this thread.

Thank you, I love naming the chickens, once I know if they are hens. We are not allowed Roos in Austin city limits, we wouldnt want to drown out the low riders and and airplane traffic around here.

I want a Frizzle, and maybe a polish hen. I meant to only have 8 chickens, now I am at 15. THEY COMPLETE ME...
