Cochin Thread!!!

Showing off my littlest roo! He seems to have become a roo overnight! I knew he was when I got him but loved him anyways and he is already a great little leader!

Just got a new batch of Partridge Cochin chicks, and they are cuties! On another thread, we were discussing the causes of pasty butt. Pretty rare in all the chicks I've grown out, I usually do Black Jersey Giants. In this latest flock of chicks, I have 20 BJG's, and 7 Partridge Cochins. They are all in the same brooder, eating the same food, and drinking the same water, but the 2 groups are from 2 different hatcheries. I've only had to clean one BJG butt, but had to clean all the Cochins. Is this a hatchery issue, a breed issue, or what?

Here's my crazy little cochin again. The other picture I had posted was a few weeks ago. We think it's a pullet. She's got some gold and even a greenish tone on some feathers.

sorry to say, but that's not a SHE. hens don't develop comb and wattles until they're just about ready to lay. here's a pic of one of my girls at 5 months old. she was just about ready to start laying...
I had my doubts. The lady we got him from said it would be a hen, but the personality and temperament seemed more roo. THANKS, we're actually okay with this one being a roo!
