Cochin Thread!!!

I have a very mixed flock! Here's my list:
2 barred rock hens (6 months) we started with these two and five ducks. Ducks are gone now. I'm addicted to chickens!
1 easter egger (17 weeks)
1 black cochin (9ish weeks)
1 golden laced wyandotte (7ish weeks)
1 silver laced polish (2 weeks)
1 silver laced wyandotte (2 weeks)
1 white silkie (2 weeks)
1 blue silkie (2 weeks)
1 easter egger (2 weeks)
1 salmon faverolle (2 weeks)

I'm unsure of sex on the polish and both silkies but all others *should* be female. I love my chickens!

We got rid of our ducks also. I always thought I would hate having chickens and finally my hubby talked me into it. It only took him about 15 years and I sure wish I would have caved sooner, lol! We currently have Barred Rocks, New Hampshires, Silver Laced Wyandottes, Black Stars, Blue Andalusians, Easter Eggers, Buttercups, Golden Penciled Hamburgs, Phoenix, Buff Orpingtons, Black Australorps, Golden Laced Wyandottes, Golden Polish, Buff Polish and Blue Cohins. Plus two exotic ones that MM sends. One is a Naked Neck and I haven't figured out the other one yet. They range in age from 1 1/2 months old to 2 years old. Can you tell we love chickens??

Holy Cow, I have 136 birds right now!!! Ok, I knew it was over 100, but when I look at it on paper, it seems so much more crazy!!! Luckily, my hubby is on board and keeps building me more coops and runs.

holy jeepers! That's a lot of birds! Do you breed them? Sell the eggs? Why for you have so many? Lol!

Lol, we raise and sell them. We always keep about a dozen or so laying hens for eggs. We're going to start breeding soon. We actually got into this by accident. Our Tractor Supply was sold out of babies one year and I didn't want to wait, so hubby and I agreed to order some online. It was winter, so we had to order more than we needed. Once they were older, I sold some and then we just got hooked!!

awesome! We just have ours for eggs and pets. We dont even eat eggs very often so they're mostly pets at this point. We only have 2 laying right now and that is plenty of eggs for us.

Pictures of some Bantam Cochins out in the yard before the torrential rain today.
1st Picture is of Columbian, White Frizzle, and Gold Laced searching for crickets.
2nd Picture is of a Columbian cock wandering. He is rough and going through molt.
3rd Picture much like #1
4th Picture is of young Blacks and a Mottled Cockerel heading for the alfalfa.
