Cochin Thread!!!

I was Wondering how early you can see a difference in gender on the patterned varieties? I have 2gold laced and a silver laced that i am debating genders on (really i am still debating most of them, but the other varieties i am "patiently" waiting on combs and feather development. They are 5+ weeks old

Possible female silver laced next to a known male (big comb and wattles)

This is Esther, she is a cross between a Black Cochin and Ameraucana. Here is Big Boy, he is a Buff Cochin. Lola, a Partridge Cochin. Rachel, also a Partridge Cochin. We have two other full-grown Black Cochin hens, and Esther's half brother who is a Black Cochin/Ameracana cross. His name is Israel and he is white, like his father.
How old are Rachel & Lola? Sorry if you already said, I couldn't find it. Love your names and you have gorgy babies!

Just wanted to share some of my cochin babies with y'all. We found out last week that my DD won't be able to show her chickens at the fair this year ( we live in Indiana and have had a farm test positive for the bird flu, so no live bird shows, swaps or any kind of bird commingling at all)

I understand that it's for the safety of the birds, but it doesn't make it hurt any less. So I thought I could share them with my friends on here.

This is Lana

Skeeter (frizzle cochin)

Lokie

Lokie ( he likes getting his pic taken)

No name yet (she's a frizzle cochin)

These are my first cochins. They are Silver Laced. Not sure if that is an accepted variety, but they sure are cute, very friendly, bright and curious. I have a question. I have a broody that I would like to use for these chicks. The chicks are 3 days old. How old can a chick be and still be accepted by a mother hen? We are having some unusually cold weather for June and I would like to wait till the temps are normal before sneaking the chicks under the broody. This will be the broody's first clutch, so I might put them in one at a time. Any experience in the Cochin group with broodys raising chicks? Any advice would be appreciated.
