So if I was going to seriously breed blue Cochins I would need to keep the black and splash

If you wanted to produce only Blue chicks, then Black to Splash would be the way to go. There is merit in keeping and breeding good Blue birds though if producing good show stock is your ultimate goal. If you had a set of Blues with correct color then you could reasonably expect at least some of their Blue offspring to have that same good color.

What do you think of my blues? I bought them about a month ago at a sale, and surprisingly they were local too
And if they would produce good color when crossed?

The position they should be in foe the judge to examine them. Like in beef it's front feet even, with the back right leg in line with the hips, and the back left leg about 4 inches back depends on how big the animal is

For showmanship, depending on what the judge asks you for how they want you to set them up, they should be stand up, not slouching. You shouldn't be holding them like that either, the best way is to train them to stand on the table without you having to hold them there.
To get them in the right position, push their chest and tail feathers up. (A little hard to explain, sorry) The judge will usually say to face them right, left, or towards them. It's a good idea to watch videos on it also.

When holding your chicken also, there's a specific way to hold them in showmanship. Are you in a 4H group, FFA or anything like this?

Here is a video showing how to hold and show the bird. It's kinda awkward holding them like that in the beginning, but you get used to it very quickly and it will probably become a habit to hold them like this.

Does anyone have barred Cochin's? I have a 6 week old and noticed he has pinkish feet. The rest are blues and have yellow to blackish feet. Just curious what's normal or if he is a cross. They are not for show.

I have hatching eggs for sale on craigslist and this lady is contacting me about them, and at first I thought she wanted chicks because she emailed me 'I'm interested in your hatching chicks'.
After talking to her she says 'I could pick up tonight. They could be under her by early evening and then hatching in morning would be perfect.'
So, I'm lost. I ask her if she's interested in buying hatching eggs or chicks. She says fertile eggs, so I assume she means hatching eggs.
So, I tell her the prices and what I have.
She then says 'How much longer do the eggs need?'
I ask her what she means by that.
She says 'I was trying to ask how long your hen has been sitting on them so I know how much longer before they hatch.'
So, I'm super confused. Figured out she wanted to buy chicks that were already forming in the egg, but before they hatch, put them under her hen and let her finish hatching them.
I had to explain to her that my hatching eggs aren't already forming when I sell them, you put the eggs that were just laid under the mama hen and she sits on them for 21 days then they hatch.
One of the most confusing costumers I've talked to on craigslist lol

Subscribing. I just got my silkies to start breeding and I was also considering Cochins when I was trying to pick the right breed and now I am wondering if I should just get some and start breeding me also. What color is everyone's favorite I like the partridge but i don't know where I would be able to find any does anyone know a breeder in he state of Pennsylvania a thanks.
