Cochin Thread!!!

I've got eggs hatching! I have 3 lemon blues from Candace that have hatched, a lavender and a white have also hatched. I have a golden laced, a silver penciled, and a partridge starting to break out and a couple more partridge and lavender and a blue in the waiting (these were an assorted color dozen from covered Bridge Poultry). All are bantams. Pics will follow once they all hatch.

I may have to build another coop!

I had 3 of hers hatch. I lemon blue and 2 look like could be brown red (the black form of the Lemon Blue) (which is also fine with me). I am going out of town to celebrate our anniversary, so i'll try to take some picks on Sunday or Monday. the chicks just look like a regular blue (or black, or splash, depending) the lemon color will begin to come in with the feathers.

Do you have just barred hens? Becuase then you would have sexlinked Cochins. Think of the barred as black. So you could get
barred hen to black rooster = barred roosters and black hens.
Barred hen and blue rooster= black and blue hens, black and blue barred roosters
barred hen to splash rooster = blue hens and blue barred roosters.

But if you were also adding barred roosters, then you would get both b/b/s barred hens and roosters.

It's hard to know for sure without a picture, but if he's ALL blue with one or two white feathers in his foot feathering, he's a blue. The white feathers are not desirable, but it doesn't make him a splash. My own much loved, "perfect most wonderful rooster in the world" has a couple of small white feathers in his foot feathers. It would be nice to see pictures of him.

Thanks for the reply! I"ll try to find a pic with his feet in it. Most of the pics I have of him he's sleeping in

This was the best pic I could get of him, its his favorite spot to sit, he has a nice view of his ladies from here. Can't really see the white spot on his foot though, I also noticed he has a few red feathers on his neck, he is going through his last molt, he is now 4 months old, will the red feathers stay or is it just bad coloring?
