GORGEOUS!!!

Amy, she's a sweet girl but a bit aloof - both her and Adeline give me a wide berth. Addi is gorgeous too, she is done molting and is shiney and gleaming all over with her pretty black feathers.
You know who comes around me?
Fancy the splash. She's molting and her new feathers are beautiful too.
Pappa Cezanne comes too but won't let me pick him up unless he is on the roost at night.
He is having a ball over here with all the girls, and have them he does. LOL
He isn't too keen on his offspring though - but we haven't had any fights yet.

Have a good day

Oh yes, they are aloof because they think they are too pretty to have their feathers touched by a mere human hand!

They know that they are gorgeous just being viewed from a safe distance and never liked being cuddled.
Now Fancy, she is all about being a good girl with getting close to the hands that feed her. She can deal with some treats! I bet they are missing the apples this fall. They did love eating those and I always have tons this time of year living in the middle of orchard country. But also Persimmons, muscadines and some peaches. They weren't big on the strawberries though.

I am so glad they have found such a loving home. I was rather picky about who they went to and am glad you are being the best of moms. Way better than I was able to be for them! I keep cutting back on my breeds. I love them all so much but next week the last of my lovely Araucanas are flying out to CA.

Ahhhhh Amy, thanks for trusting me with your lovely giant cochins. I do love them very much.
They aren't the loviest bunch but that's what our Australorps are for. Those girls have HUGE personalities and are affectionate.
But the Cochins, gosh I just love to watch them, they are so beautiful.
And the roosters are gorgeous and I can trust them.
Yes, Fancy is the treat monger - ferrrrrr sure!!! She also doesn't like to sleep with the rest of the flock. She has to have her own room!!!! It cracks me up. Every night she climbs the ramp to the nest boxes and sleeps 1/2 on the top of the ramp with her but tucked into a nest box. Of course I have to clean it every morning, it's a pain but she's worth it. If it were any other chicken I'd be irritated. But I baby your birds.

They got lots of watermelon this summer and squash and cucumbers.
And our new place has some type of fruit tree, we can't figure it out. They are very small and look like apricots but they are smaller with no fuzz. All the chickens would run to the bottom of the tree each morning in the spring, hoping to find fruit on the ground. Then it was 'keep away' if someone got one. Hysterical to watch.

I wish I knew you were letting go of your Araucanas, I would have come over again. If you have anything else you are selling, email me - I'd love to come over again.

If anyone has giant cochin mille fleur or mottled hatching eggs, let me know

I have a Standard Blue Cochin hen in with my egg laying flock. She is a big girl and seems very healthy. She is not a big roamer, and will only free range within a few feet of the gate. I received her when mom bought 5 Bantam Cochins. She is eating, pellets, scratch and treats. She is still in the middle of getting to know everyone. I have had her for about 3 weeks now.

My problem is eggs. What color would her eggs be? How many per week should she lay?

Cochins lay cream colored eggs. I only have one adult cochin (bantam) at the moment, and she lays about 4 - 5 eggs a week.

some of my cochins lay a brownish pink colored egg and the rest go from that to shades of almost white
