Hey everyone. My daughter has her first show (4-H) on Oct 15th, and she is taking her little partridge Cochin. Can any one give us any pointers on show prep? I grew up on a farm and I am great on the animal husbandry side, but I am her project leader and I have never shown. I just found out about this show last night, so now I have to cram so I can help her. Any advice would be most appreciated. Thanks everyone.

I just got my first Cochins (bantams) in August! I got them from a lovely breeder at the fair~

I love this little breeding pair, and my buff Orpington is sitting on six of their eggs. C: Their names are Desmond and Alys.

The hen got the tips of her comb ripped off by a mean rooster. Oh, and they're missing some feathers.

So what do you guys think~?

What do I think? You take beautiful pictures and I need to buy a camera that takes pictures that good. I like that they have pretty good eye color. The deep leaves make it hard for me to tell more about them. I mention the comb only because he has plenty of points to his comb and it is hard to tell on her. I never breed a comb with less than 4 points or more than six since 5 is the ideal. Something to consider when you think about keeping some of the chicks for next years breeding. Would like to see a picture where I could see leg feathering and overall type. Nice birds from what I could see.

Thanks for the compliments guys~!

Thank you very much for the tips Black Cochin Bantams, I'm definitely new to this! We purchased the birds for my first ever 4H project~

I'll snap some pics tomorrow of their leg feathering and overall type, I might have some pictures of their babies as well. I just was told that their's a fuzzy little baby chick running around in one of the nest boxes with it's mom. Only five more eggs to hatch!
