That explains the comb! ^_^ I have 3 BLRW chicks at the moment, and I love the way their coloring is coming in. Is there a specific pattern you have in mind for your kaleidoscope cochins? I really like the 2 colombian-ish looking ones. One of the others does look a bit like a BLRW.

I was working on BLR but don't have the time or space to breed the number of birds that it would take to get a good pattern going. I love eye candy and am planning on breeding the ones that I think will make very colorful offspring (that's where the kaleidoscope name comes in

) Hoping to get a SQ partridge or buff columbian in there next year to get some really good type and the splash will make it easy to get a nice blue in there the first time around. Being as these are my F3's I'm anxiously waiting to see how they color as they mature and see what kind of patterns I can work for next year. That blr cockerel looked like a spangled as a chick so they still continue to surprise me

I bought hatching eggs for bantam cochins in a variety of colors last fall, and hatched and raised a good variety. Then I bought the standards book and started looking at them , and several if not most of them have this split wing thing going on. So now I'm culling anything with a split wing and starting over. That's a tough thing to do, and it didn't leave me with very many. I spent a lot on feed and time, mostly time, for naught. So, my question is, how often does the split wing show up in bantam cochins? AND can you tell from the pictures that people post if the wing is split- or do you only see it when you actually spread their wings?
