Cochin Thread!!!

She looks to have relatively good lacing for a mix. I see a raised comb. Is it possible the comb was frostbitten and damaged so that all the points from a single comb would have frozen off? Or maybe she is a Silver Laced Brahma? I can't get a good look at that comb.
I don't think she's a SL Brahma, I know the guy that developed that variety and they don't look anything at all like that. If she has Brahma in her it is a distant mix.

going to get some cochins this spring cant wait

Hey all, Merry Christmas to all.

i have a question for the partridge breeders out there. My partridge roo is starting to feather in nicely, he is about 4-5 months old now. The area i am concerned with though is his tail. I have done a lot of reading and googling and cant seem to find out if this is normal or not. His tail is still showing a lot of white feathering. Will this change after a moult? or does this boy just have the wrong coloured feathers?

it could be nutritional... i've had a couple blacks that were just as black as can be and moulted out like that, just to go black again the next moult...

I agree with the Brahma, but the feathering in her tail is far too soft to be a Wyandotte mix. The feathering also seems to be a bit heavy on the legs for an F1 mix.

big medicine was the person who developed the Silver Laced Brahmas correct? Many of the birds that are being bred for "money" are taking on a more production look to them and are quickly losing the Brahma characteristics.
