Cochin Thread!!!

I don't see it either.
agreed it look right to me also:

The Male Shape – as defined in the American Poultry Association, Standard of Perfection
COMB: Single; of medium size, set firmly on head, stout at base, straight from front to rear, low in front; serrations moderately deep, dividing comb into five regular points the middle one highest; free from wrinkles, fine in texture.

I agree with the 5-point count. I'd really like to see some better side shots. His tail is bothering me in the pictures - I'm not sure I can put my finger on why. It looks small, and almost like a bunny tail. He's just a cockerel, so maybe it just needs to fill in more.

Its a bit exasperated now, but as a newbie I want to add my 2 cents. In December I decided to start my 'dream' of breeding & owning Cochins...I had been raising some pq silkies for 4 years before.
I jumped in with two feet, Now I look back and regret asking some obvious questions..after some weren't answered I started researching...and found way more than I expected. If you are serious about breeding just dedicate some hours to reading. I havr read this WHOLE cochin forum, evert link on the CI website plus many many more pages. I have folders saved to.my comp, some pages I printed out and put in my binder...I have 'tip' lists wrote down etc. Research pays off, and personally I feel so much more educated, and I know fractions compared to others on this forum.

Quote: personally, comb is the last thing i pay attention to when working on a line of any breed (except for side sprigs)... once your type is good, then you can worry whether he's got a good comb or not. but even so, i think only having 4 points rather than 5 is a minor fault...
