Yes, I am no expert, but from what I have read being wet constantly can have detrimental effects on their feet. Have you looked at the thread on this site about how to fix a muddy run? I'll see if I can find it.Hi sorry to just drop inbut i have just hatched cochins or pekins as they are called here in ireland and was wondering if wet weather badly effects their feathered feet? Im considering building them their own seperate moveable coop and run as the large area where i keep my other chickens and two goats sometimes gets muddy in the winter if it rains a lot. Any help is much appreciated![]()

LOL i free range all my non-breeding (ie young or resting) stock and have never had a problem with the wet/mud/whatever affecting them. yeah the feathers get a bit worn looking much faster, but overall they stay pretty good condition...Hi sorry to just drop inbut i have just hatched cochins or pekins as they are called here in ireland and was wondering if wet weather badly effects their feathered feet? I have researched this but cant seem to find any concrete information, was hoping someone had experience with it .
this one may be a mix, but not pure cochin IMO... cochins should have yellow feet/legs.
Gorgeous!!!Had a great day at Sedalia visiting and showing my birds. The Cochin class numbers were down a little but the quality of the birds was very good. The quality of these pictures does not do these birds justice. Not the best pictures but the 3 winning birds are excellent examples of exhibition quality Bantam Cochins. Results from show at Sedalia yesterday April 20, 2013. Annamay Carlson had Grand Champion of the 1st show with a Blue hen Bernita Miller had a Black hen that was Reserve FL in 1st show and Champion FL in the 2nd show Annamay Carlson had Reserve FL in the 2nd show with a Black Cock.![]()
