Cochin Thread!!!

Hey Ya'll
I am hoping you could help me pick out a new roo from this batch I picked up for a song a couple of weeks ago. I need to sell the extras at a big swap coming up in a couple of weeks.

Roo number 1 is the one in the cent of this picture. He is my current favorite (I think, maybe...)

Roo number 2.

Roo number 3, he was also the roo to the left in picture #1

Roo # 4 looks like his comb was injured at some point.

Group shot, the other two girls are in the house laying.

I think I like Roo's one and two the best> Thanks everyone>

Definitely Roo #1. I have an eye for that.

First thought is there is still so much a picture does not show. Consider keeping 2 because if you only keep 1 it is sure to die or go sterile before you get a chick.

1 All birds carry wings about equal in the pictures. Are there any weak or split wings in the bunch? If so cull them.

2 How is eye color. You want the most intense red/orange

3 Foot/ leg color. Yellow feet best dusky yellow legs

4 Center and outer toes cover with feathers to the end.

5 Nails on all toes.

Congratulations on the hatch Craig!
My hatch rate has dropped for some reason but I use that darn little giant incubator and have had so many fluctuations in heat and humidity!
I several girls gone broody so I am letting them brood. My buff Columbians have not laid an egg in a few weeks until today so I am extremely excited about that!

Woke up this morning to at least 26 chicks hatched so far. Blacks, Columbians, GL project, Silver Penciled and Partridge in this bunch for sure. More to go and more every week. Today is a GOOD day!

http://www.poultryshowcentral.com/poultry-show-dates.html has shows/events listed several ways by dates and states. Or subscribe to Poultry Press which is shipped monthly.

To my knowledge there is no list or effort to post a show schedules on BYC at this time. I only see postings for individual shows posted by individuals

thanks for sharing this link. I was unaware of this one.

Cochins are doing FANTASTIC at the shows this Spring! But for those of you that can't get to one of your local shows, the Cochins International Spring Online Show is almost here!! Entries will be accepted between May 1st and May 7th - same format and rules as the Winter Show. I very happy to announce that our guest Judge will be Bill Post of NY. Many of you will know him from the ShowBirdBid and BYC forums, where he is always on hand to offer fair critiques and sound advice as NYREDS.
