this brings up a question I have been seeking an answer for. When can you tell when the patterning on these birds is usable or not? At what point do you cull or do you wait for the first or second moult with patterned birds? That said these look great. Can't wait to see how they develop.

I honestly don't know. I am hoping that Coopa Cabana will see this and have an answer. She is better at tracking development. If anything like my Columbians I have to let them grow out to 4 months and only cull for things that won't change with molts like shafting, eye color, ect.

Well I have decided to get exchange my 2 buff orpingtons for 2 more cohins! I just love my current Cochins and my buff are just MEAN! Idk why I've handled them all the same, but my Cochins are the best. They try to escape just to sit in my hand and one I have to pry off of me to put her back in the brooder its the funniest thing. So! I've decide that's what I'm going to do. Phew what a relief. I've been trying to give my buffs some time and I'm just growing impatient, I hope Im not in the wrong here, but I don't want to invest my time on baby's that just don't like me :(. Just hoping my new babies turn out to be as wonderful as my current loves :)

brand new to the cochin family and starting out with getting new chickens. I cant tell if they are roosters or hens. If you could help me out if possible and try to identify if they are hens or roosters. I really cant tel

You would need to do one at a time for people to be able to tell. There are a couple obvious Roos in there but it's difficult to see on the rest.

I am new to Cochins as well. I see where Roos will have big red combs but do they have the saddle feathers as well?
My two are four months old and just wondering if I should be looking for the same signs as my other chickens
