Cochin Thread!!!

Hi Missyktsm thanks for the kind words but i think you are thinking about someone else, i raise white, black, partridge and mottled partridge. No Silvers yet.! i know Craig(Black Cochin Bantams) had a couple, and Ki4got has some on the go. Perhaps it was one of them?
Sorry for the repost but for some reason I could not load more than 1 picture so I did this to show my SL.
Maybe Karen's (Ki4Got)?
Those are really nice birds and I'm hoping one day mine will be at least half as nice. However, they aren't the pic that sparked DH's interested. I went back in the thread several pages and couldn't find it so I started wondering if I'd seen it on the LF thread. Sure enough, that's where I found it. I'm not sure if any of you subscribe to that thread as well but I thought I'd share...this is from Bartcochins who has several beautiful varieties. I blame my mistake on insomnia, late night posting, and too many cochin threads running though my head. :/. Sorry for the confusion.
Cochin silver laced from april. After 6 years getting closer to a good cochin in type...

. Sorry for the confusion.

Yeah, the LF Silver Laced Cochins are further along than the bantams.

This bird is excellent in relationship to the current available Silver Laced. I do hope you continue on with him and some nice hens that you have or can find. If not make sure he goes to someone who\ is totally committed to the variety. There are no perfect birds, but it is also a relative issue and this guy is great for a SL.

Pictures of the pair of SL I have. A gift from a dear friend. I used this SL hen under a GL male to give me sex linked GL pullets. Pictured is one of them.Worked wonderfully. I did get fertile eggs from her when bred to GL but not when bred to this Cock bird.

These birds are gorgeous Craig! These are some that you're keeping - Right? I hope.............

oh he's staying! I have one girl with lacing on par with his own and 2 incompletely laced girls who have better type but poorer lacing... so yeah, it's a project, but there is light at the end of the tunnel for these guys... just a matter of improving type and perfecting pattern. time and a couple generations will see to that... though I would like to add another silver laced girl to the mix from another line.

. My LF Cochin Lily is young and she hasn't begun to lay. She I think went through a partial molt because she lost some feathers and her feet feathers thinned out but now she has gotten some feathering back and has little feathers that are still growing. Any way her tail went from nice and round and fluffy to the tail shown in the pictures "except the second to the last picture that one was just for fun" were she now has feathers sticking out. Do you guys think that her tail will grow and fill out and become rounded again?

I am having to reduce my flock for health reasons. I have Silver Penciled available for someone interested in breeding a rare but recognized variety. Looking for the right person to continue this project .
