Recessive White?Hey All, it's been a while, we are smack in the middle of breeding season and i have been running around.
I though i would share another unusual chick, in the hopes some of you with more experience may have seen this before.
This chick came from a partridge pair, it is pure yellow. There are no markings, no stripes and no indication that it is from the pair at all. It almost looks like a broiler chick!
Here is the little fella.
Anyone have any ideas?
Recessive White?
Please continue to share picks of it's progress. Once in a while one of my Mille's hatches with pure white down. I wonder what genes are involved there and how that affects my lines?I was thinking that, our birds are based on the uk version and so maybe Crawford was right all along that they carrying a single recessive white. I certainly havent seen any other white chicks from this pair. But i have only hatched 6 eggs from them so far.
I forgot my camera at the motel also. It was good to meet you too. So many good birds to see and talk about.Hoping everyone who made it to Knoxville has gotten home safely (or will soon)...
It started off a slow day for me, but I finally got to meet some of you and VERY glad to have done so! I had a great time, loved talking with and learning from everyone.
none of my cochins did much but then again, I only brought 3 blue mottled. mostly so I could have a visual comparison of what I have vs what my goal should be... got them critiqued by a few people and got different insights into different points from each of you.
I didn't see anyone this morning, sorry I missed you. Unfortunately I didn't sleep well, because Sunny kept woofing at traffic noises, doors closing, people talking out in the parking lot, etc. So after the birds were loaded up, I simply headed home... glad I left when I did, I started hitting freezing rain and ice about 30 miles from home. pretty sure all the birds were thankful to be home too, even with the freezing rain.
and unfortunately I forgot my camera, so I hope someone got some good pics of the winning birds.
