Beautiful birds, just love the Blues...What do you think of my boys?
So you're saying your screen name is very fitting today?ok well, I woke up to an oops. LOL a good oops but still. I had set some eggs a while back but forgot which day I set them. wrote down when I thought they were due and have been candling every day. well, I missed somehow. woke up this morning to 2 chicks and 3 more pipped eggs still in the incubator in the turner! so now the 2 chicks and the rest of the eggs are in the hatcher, while I try to figure out where i'm going to put them. LOL
looks like it's time to set up my 3rd brooder (first time since june!) normally I'd mix them with some older chicks, but my last hatch was 17 and they're getting crowded as it is.
so far the first 2 out are from my mille fleur cochin pen.still remaining are blrw, red dorking and sfh.![]()

The only cochin pullet I have is large fowl. She went broody at 6 months and had 12 eggs under her. I'm not sure she even layed her first egg before going broody. She now has 4 month old babies that are bigger than her still attached at the hip. So thats all I can share from my experience.Hello All Cochin Breeders,
I have a question about the broodiness of Bantam Vs Lg Fowl Cochins. I have always had Bantam Cochins and have used them quite successfully to help me to hatch out my peafowl eggs. The only problem has always been that I cannot put more than 2 eggs under each broody. Sometimes I will allow 3 eggs if that particular cochin is a little larger than their smaller counterparts. I was seriously considering purchasing Lg Fowl Cochins to help me with this dilemma. Does anyone or has anyone ever noticed a difference in the girls broodiness? Would appreciate any replies. Thank you in advance for your time.
