Cochin Thread!!!

I just ordered 3 Silver-Laced Cochins and am very excited! What pretty birds! I'm curious though, if anyone has any pictures of Silver-Laced Cochin chicks? I ordered them with a few other breeds and wants to be able to identify them easily

Do a good search for "youtube silver-laced cochin chicks" and you should come up with a video from cackle hatchery showing what they look like.

Mine are always grey with dark grey or black chipmunk stripes. The middle one and one on the left I believe are SL Cochins. Oh and also top left one with yellow on the bottom and grey stripes on it's back....turned out to be a Roo that wasn't the best color or confirmation wise.

I just purchased a young (not even POL yet) white Cochin bantam pullet. She's darling! I'm beginning to like Cochins very much.

Could anyone comment about her quality? I'm very new to Cochins and would like to show her.

wow. that's a lot of eggs for 1 hen to cover! whenever I've had a hen try to take on that many, I found that most never made it since they were not consistently incubated, sometimes on the cold outer edges sometimes right underneath... last time, I 'eggtopsied' them, found most about a week or so into development then quit. some further along. of the 19 or 20 she had, only 2 hatched.

That is a lot for one hen. I assumed they were using more than one hen since they said hens not hen
