Good idea. I don't have any Marian's. there dark chicolate eggs are beautiful!
I heard they're really nice, gentle birds, friendly & very quick to learn. Sadly, the Marans chick I ordered did not survive the shipping. I do know some people breed the feathered legged variety, so wherever you get one from make sure has clean legged genetics if that's important to you
.
It depends on how nice you want the feathers to look. Mine are out in the mud and do fine but I would not be trying to show them like that. I have never seen any kind of health problems come out of it. But I have heard that if you have a lot of clay in your area it can ball up and make Trouble for them
I would not stress to muchI think I will have to wait and see. Right now I only have a Salmon Favorolle hen and cockerel with "hairy" feet. But what I was worried about was what you already addressed, if it would cause health problems. I have some mix babies coming up with "hairy" feet and then I bought 4 Cochin chicks, 2 Silkies and a little D'Uccle. I hatched some eggs from a swap and got one tiny black Silkie. Right now I have 15 Silkie eggs in the incubator, so I have several and some to be determined yet. I am not planning on showing any of them so if it won't cause them any harm, I will just keep an eye on them and let it go.

Yea, My broodies have little one's this morning. I wasn't expecting them till closer to Wednesday. Pics coming soon
my girls have been so funny. Bridget is a eggs theft. She wants them all. And Hennie Pennie was determined that some of them are hers so they share the nest and when one gets up to eat and such the other steals the eggs. This morning when I whent to feed i heard the cutest sound. So I moved Bridget and she had two little wet one's. Hennie Pennie took the rest of the eggs and shell's. I could hear more little one's. But didn't want to upset the girls to much. So I left them alone.Yea, My broodies have little one's this morning. I wasn't expecting them till closer to Wednesday. Pics coming soon
