Cochin Thread!!!

Looking for some advice. My little guy will be 7 weeks tomorrow and he is become a little aggressive. He keeps trying to bite and force me out of the coop. Until recently he was the sweetest of my bunch and loved to be held. I have two small children that are now afraid to help because they don't want him to bite them.
he's just testing is boundaries. He will only go as far as you let him. Try picking him up and holding him regularly. If he tries to peck you push his head down. When holding him keep him till he relaxes. The more you hold him the better. If that doesn't work buy a cheap laser pointer. He will run from it. When you walk in the pen and he come at you point it at the ground in front of him. Be careful now to get in his eyes.

Thanks. I will try that. He's been held just about everyday since I got him, so maybe I just need to spend a little more time with them in the coop.

OK what's up with that we thought they would love chasing the laser pointer but ours were scared of it too! Lol it was kind of a let down.

I don't know why they are afraid of it. It was something my grandfather showed me as kid. He had the cutest little bantams but boy they were the meanest little boogers. And I would use the laser to get done what I need too when they were around

This is Scrambles. She/he is around 11 weeks old. Scrambles was actually sold to us as a wyandotte bantam and they said they weren't selling cochin bantams at the time. That makes me wonder if Scrambles is standard size? They had other standard cochin 'teenage' chicks but they were slightly larger then her. How can I tell if she is bantam or standard sized? (I know, I know.. It should be easy to tell, but she is my only cochin so I have no one to compare to... I used to have a cochin bantam and she stayed about the same size from 3 months to 8 months. She also had silkied feathers so it made her look bigger then she really was.) Thanks!

Hey everyone, I'm thinking of attending the Portage show this year. I am wondering if anyone going has any SQ blue or splash bantam hens. pullets or chicks that I could buy.

I did not see any for sale there last year. Dave Laatsch had some decnet Blacks there for sale last year. Only saw Blues exhibited in the Jr show if my memory is correct.

SHE looks like a bantam to me. Not as thick as a LG.
