Cochin Thread!!!

4 day old black (? my guess) Cochin





4 day old black (again , my guess) bantam cochin


If any one thinks they may be a different color I'd love to hear what ya think

How bad do I want Cochins…Up at 4am because I had to scrub in surgery over an hour away for 2 sick scrub techs….left Johns Creek at 4 and drove out to McDonough because a wonderful TSC employee sent me a Cochin text…get my babies and finally arrive home at 8pm then out to gather eggs and get the new babies settled in the giant baby playpen I have built in my basement. My wonderful hubby had a big steak and baked potato waiting for me. Can life get any better?

we hatched 10 cochin babies most of them are this light color that are now feathering a light orange,

one cute all black chick, and this speckled cochin

this one is so cute! we are really wondering what it'll look like once it is bigger. Any one else have a cochin baby with this coloring?

Cochin should have feathers on their middle toe even as young chicks...I'm not seeing those feathers on the babies in the pictures.

This is what their feet should look like...the first chicks are just day old and you can see the fuzz on the toes...the next picture although blurred shows feathers on a week old chick.

Good luck! How many babies did you get?

I picked up the only 3 Cochins they had and because of the 6 chick limit also picked up 3 other assorted. Lost 2 yesterday, they were very tiny. One found when I cam in from work the other in the night. I know these things happen, but on my small scale it is always sad when it does.

I'm sorry. I know what you mean. It is not easy to lose them. I hope the rest do well.
