my cochin Shadow lost his dominance to my new hampshire red last spring. Rudy nearly killed him because Shadow's not really a fighter. he's healthy now. although my flock is so big that i had to limit the amount of hens that i keep with Shadow because he is so slow and clumsy that he almost starved to death, litterally because everyone had most of the food gone. he'd be dead by now if it wasn't that the first thing i do if a chicken is sick is to see if they'll eat. my birds are so greedy that if they aren't eating then i'm about to lose one. so when i saw that Shadow was eating i blocked him off from everyone and gave him is own bowl. he recovered and is copletely back to normal. although he ate so fast the first time that i thought he'd die from that. Shadow is my first and my precious baby. i will be devastated when he does die. but he's survived alot. my sweetest rooster i also my toughest. fingers crossed for his chicks next year.
