Cochin Thread!!!

Shadow920 keep putting them in at night and they will start going in on their own. Sometimes it may take a week or two but they will get it. Please excuse me for the light turning on bit, I sometimes forget not everyone has a electrified coop.

just a ballerina please check her legs asap. It is hard to do but it takes time. have someone help hold her if you can. look for swelling and redness at the hip, knee and foot. My Stumpy has a knee that is dislocated but he gets on fine. He sits more than the others but walks and flies to get around. Good luck with yours!

yeah Shadow is very clumsy. but that's just how he is. when he runs he stumbles all over the place.

i wish i did. they say the hens stop laying in the winter due to shorter daylight hours, but if you have a light in your coop they'll lay all winter

yeah my chickens sometimes get twine from straw wrapped around their legs. especiallt the roosters. those spurs make them accident prone.

I checked the legs they seem fine. Very thick but no swelling. The thickness has me worrying it may be a he though or is it just that Cochins are a larger breed?

cochins are larger breed but if you don't have some to compare then you'll have to wait for maturity.
