Cochin Thread!!!

Hum. Columbian huh. I believe the breeder my MF's came from used Buff Columbian as part of the foundation. So I guess this guy is some sort of throwback. I only own one young Columbian hen that I took as a trade. She doesn't have a lot of color on her though, just a little bit on the neck and tail. I am interested to see how this guy matures. So far, he at least has some good leg and foot feathering going on. I will just have to wait and see how the rest of him turns out.
I believe I remember someone posted awhile ago asking how much black a columbian is suppose to have. I think I will have to dig around and see if I can find those posts again. I am going to assume my little roo here has too much black going on to be considered a good columbian.

Here's what I got out of my MF pen, one appears coumbian and one appears both coumbian and mottled:

Thank you! She hatched 3 babies and now they all look like the one at the bottom! They are ALL cockerels! And they have triplet brothers about a month younger. . . . year of the rooster. . .

Sure, just when I write that, I get up this morning and there are eggs from the newest birds in the nest-boxes!

From the Blue Mottleds though, not the Whites. And the one hen had a nest all made and was sitting on her ONE egg. She was pretty offended when I got sick of it about an hour ago (it's about 95 degrees outside - too hot for her to be in the stuffy nest-box) and took her egg away.
