i'm thinking my crowing culprit is my red frizzle bantam Maven with the super long legs. i keep finding it trying to fight with Moxie and Moxie will play along with it and then try to trot away with Maven still chasing. or it could be my cochin x ee Merl that has been very sweet too but also showing those strange roo neck feathers!
i'm hoping it is the frizzle since i've been thinking of re-homing that one due to it's 'funky' attitude. he won't let me handle him without a struggle. and i've been trying to handle him since he was a week old chick with no luck!
Are you sure Moxie and Maven are fighting??????????????
ooooh yeah! but it is Maven starting the whole thing and ending it! Moxie will try to bounce around a couple times or stand up and then back down and away. i have bantam fav girls that will fight on occasion so i am not sure if they might be picking up on that behavior while trying to establish a pecking order status. Maven is very low on the status in the flock according to my older favs and gets chased often by them.
eta: and Moxie usually will come running over to me after a little squabble for comfort-either hops in my lap or hides under my legs when i'm sitting on my seat.
