We got 2 partridge cochin pullets (along with 2 Plymouth Rocks, and 2 Sultans) 2 weeks ago and they are different colors, can anyone tell me if they both are partridge? They are my dad's chickens and he added a little humor to their names...

I don't know because I not no anything about the standards but here are my mottled cochins.

WOW they have an awful lot of white in them. I'm thinking way too much. I don't show so I don't know the standard but I know none of my mottleds have anywhere near that much white. It almost looks like they were splashed with bleach on the front.

Thanks for your input. I don't show either, I fell in love with the trio when I saw them. My 2 hens have a lot more black in them too. I didn't know if the chicks would develop more black in them or not. They sure have changed from hatchlings to now. I guess I will have to wait until they get to be a year old to see how much they will change.

I believe that will molt out with age. So you need to wait longer.

I was just looking at the polish thread and saw pictures of a tolbunt Polish. I really like the coloring but like bantam cochins better than Polish. I don't see any tolbunt in any other breed but polish. Is this because its not a very popular color or because it can't be done in cochins or because it is so new? OOOOohh if it could be done I wanna try. I wanted to start a breeding project but haven't found one that really interests me yet. Genetics experts, breeding experts anyone could it be done? I have heard that it is a mix of golden laced and mottled.

I think she said that it's not in the standard - maybe they can't get a consistent color yet? Wouldn't that be awesome in a cochin, though?
