Here is the result of breeding our black splits back together and I will be breeding him back to black again. This one showed major improvement compared to what we had.

I have both Brown Reds and Lemon Blues(Brown Red based) but they have been stingy with their eggs, maybe when it cools down some they will lay better.

I have been to your website. You have some BEAUTIFUL birds. I would like to try some silkied cochins maybe next year. I have Mille Fleur and Partridge and am starting some Lavender and am getting some Black and Blue Mottles to help with type.

I love this thread. All these pics are a sure cure for a rough day at work!
I teach Middle School and today I took a pic of my little Lavender chick to work to look at every time I have to remind a 6th grader to sit down and be quite.

Annarie, since you asked, I figured I better provide a quick answer, since I see this has turned into quite a debate. Vaccinating is a personal preference. Some breeders vaccinate for a bunch of things, and some breeder vaccinate for nothing. I currently practice the latter. However, if you do vaccinate, I recommend that you inform potential buyers that you do, so they can make an informed decision on whether they want to add what constitutes in many cases, carriers of one disease or another to their flock. For instance, if you vaccinate for Laryngo, the birds shouldn't be co-mingled for at least 30 days with non-vaccinated birds. If I do buy a new bird, which is not too often, they are kept in isolation for 10 days to 2 weeks prior to co-mingling with any of my own birds.

I recently bought this little barred rock roo. I will be looking for a couple hens for him. Should I not find him any I thought I might put him with a mottled hen... Don't know what that would get me. Can anyone help?
