Thank you.

Am only stopping in to say this......I posted a picture of my barred cochin no less than four times, maybe more. I simply could not tell if he was a she or a he. It took him getting beat up by the BO rooster for any of us to be sure.

Harry is a LF cochin. Sweetest bird ever. But his feathers were so fluffy it was impossible to tell if they were rooster feathers or not. Finally after I separated him and was sure that he was a he I could SEE his rooster feathers. Now that I have two girls for him and can see the three all together I can see the difference easily.

I love cochins and plan on increasing my flock this year. Yes, they are slow to mature. Yes, they are hard to sex. But there has never been a sweeter chicken.

It is only in the last two months that this chicken who harms none, never got in another chickens way....was the bottom of the pecking order forever...it is only now that you can see that he is a he.....a very sweet he.

I understand having a hard time sexing a cochin. But what a wealth of knowledge there is on this thread about cochins!!!

I have 2 Golden Laced Bantam roos that are sweeter and friendlier than all my hens put together! A good disposition in a roo is definitely a trait that you want to pass on. Mine are Father and Son - I definitely believe a good disposition is genetic!

Well, I got Sweet Harry two girls. They are black and he is barred. He can have them until the time I can get him some barred girls and get them grown up. I am in the process of making enough runs and coops to house the different breeds that I want to work on and keep. Harry will definately have a 'forever home' here.

Looking forward to spring and finding him his 'barred' girls!

Can you post more pics of him and his girls. I just got a Barred roo and need a couple girls for him too. He is young but large. Are they on the big side for bantam cochins like Partridge seem to be on the small side?

I'm hoping maybe someone on here might have some insight on this buff roo. I'm looking for one and this is a picture of one that someone has for sale. I would like to get one that is really nice looking for breeding with my hens. Does he look good? He seems to have some darker color in his tail, is that not good? The person selling him said his feet were all muddy, so it's hard to tell how feathery his feet are. Any advice is much appreciated. Thanks.

I'm trying to give my chickens a proper musical education. So far it is going very well. Whenever I ask them: "Who is your favorite composer?" They always respond, "Bach, Bach!"
