Cochin Thread!!!

OK, I took new pics of Jack today out in the pen. He looks a lot more natural in his pen. What do you all think? Better?

Awe . . . see . . . he didn't need any staging or propping up!! His carriage and type look 100% better in the first pic than all those other pics from yesterday put together!

See how his "eyebrows" are long? That's what they were talking about trimming. I think some do, some don't. When you go to the show, be sure and see what most others are going.

I think he'll still get a few points off for the color leakage and comb, but I think he's worthy of the trip to the show.

PS - You know I've been somewhat critical in the past of the the way you edit/fancy up the backgrounds of your pics - which, IMHO, detract from the birds. I think the first pic is probably the best pic I've ever seen you post! Simple, natural, I love it! Good job!

do you have a pic of the hen, I'd love to see what she turned out like.
also I'm not sure about shows in your area but I've always heard that it is a dq to cut any feathers so I wouldn't trim those brows just yet

if you want to show and breed your cochins AI is the only way to do that. there is a really good youtube video showing you how to do it. dont get discouraged either because it took me a while to get it correct and now my eggs are 100% fertile
