Cochin Thread!!!

Your guess is as good as mine!

He supposedly hatched from Mottleds but I have a feeling the hen visited over the fence. There was a Birchen roo there at the time and this guy has daddy written all over him. The fence was only 3 ft high.

I now keep my Cochins in tractors where they are safe from overzealous and blind hormones.

And yes, I know Nellabean owns him but he was a blue Mottled looking boy when he left here as a kid.

Hes neat looking whats his color background?

He looks like maybe he's based on the e+ allele (Wild Type or Duckwing)??? Isn't that what you're supposed to have to start a Crele project?

I need help! my 4 mottled girls in with Mr Mottled are finally all laying. Fertility in that pen is ZERO. I am going to do some serious trimming this weekend....are there pictures or diagrams of how it should be done somewhere? I don't want to do too little and would prefer to not completely massacre their rear ends either.

Hello everyone,
This is my daughter's little partridge cochin bantam for her 4-H project. It is an 8 week old pullet I believe. What do you all think about her for a show prospect or is it to soon to tell? I think she is really pretty, but I have never exhibited poultry before. Thanks for looking.

It's VERY early and almost everything on her is going to change.......a lot, but what I see that I DO like and I think it will hold true over time is her head, it's VERY pretty from what I can see. I don't know how much the color of her hackles will change, but currently they are a bit light. They should be darker, more mahogany in shade, but she's cute, very cute!
