Cochin Thread!!!

Introducing "Vincent Van Crow" He is a bantam Lemon Blue hatched from eggs from Candice. He is about 6 weeks old in this photo. He is named for Vincent van Gogh and his "picture painted blue and gold" (Starry Night). He has 2 Brown Red siblings (one I think is another roo and one I hope, hope, hope is a pullet).

I thought I was getting straight cochin, but I got this one to hatch with the others...the person that sent them said that it is a sizzle, just straight feathered sizzle. I sent her the same pictures to check out, because I wondered about the funny top on him. him..

Boy and I feel awful about it, must have been one of the grandkids who brought it to me and told me the wrong pen it came from. They do love to help but I keep telling them to let me gather the eggs so I can make sure they are marked right. I sure wish I had him here to use in my sizzle pen, guess if you could hang onto him till it cools off enough to ship I would buy him or work out a deal on more eggs for him and I pay shipping, then it would work out great for both of us. If you have any others for sale at the time I could maybe add more to the box. Just let me know, sure would love to have him here to breed to my frizzle sizzles.

Thanks to Gail

Cochins International will soon have a current Cochin breeder directory. I filled out the form and it was easy to use. Can only list if a member of Cochins International which is easy to join. It appears that is will be similar to the Breeder directory she developed for BYC except with more contact information and additional options. Check it out at the Cochin International forum.

Oh my I love the first girl...like spun gold with pearls! I do have a lil up and coming white cockerel. So he would be better for my lil buff mottled MFC?

I think I have a really cruddy pic of her taken on my phone.

Yes, I keep all my white/buff chicks around to see how they will mature, unless they are just too bad in type. So far I have not found the right guy to use but one day he will show up and I will try to grab him.

Look at type first and if it is acceptable then keep until 6 months and look again to see if the bird is what you can use. If you look too much you will find you talking yourself into keeping it anyhow.
