Hi I would like to know What color My little Rooster is ? He is marked like lemon blue but he is lemon and red.Tryed to post pic didn't work what color would you call this color. Can't find one this color any where.
Does anyone have birds that like to roost high? My partridge hens insist on roosting on top of the coop at night (unless it is really cold). I have never been able to break them of the habit. My roo is from another flock and sleeps inside the coop by himself. Their "children" have inherited the high roosting "gene". A 5 mo. pullet and roo roost on the top of their pen, 6 feet up, inside the big pen.
I picked up an in-progress lemon blue project. Yes, I know its not really lemon blue, but they are just for yard candy. The young guy will eventually take over for my old (temporary tail-less) blue dude.
A couple of the old mama hens. I am glad to have some young cochins in the flock again.
This is one of the juvenile pullets. I hope you all can see the hint of red around her neck. Thinking it will get more noticeable as she ages.
Its almost October and I still have cochin hens setting on eggs. They just don't quit!

It's always great to hear from someone interested in GL Bantams - they are not for the faint-hearted!! And it would be great to have another breeder in Colorado!! When I started my search for GL Bantams a couple of years ago, I was told there is no such thing as a "good" GL Bantam. I'm not showing mine yet, as I'm still working on better lacing, but you can see pics of mine in the link below. I don't have anything available right now, but please keep in touch. Where in CO are you located?
If either of you decide to go the Partridge route to improve type on GL let me know. I have a pretty good young male with a little shafting on some primary wing feathers. Will be showing his father at that show. Coopa you know where he/they came from. I could bring along to the Oct 8 show in Colorado.
Hey Amy, here is a picture of your old blue cochin roo's son that i kept. He is the best main flock rooster ever. he is currently a bit tailless as well. Darn molting! He keeps a close eye on his ladies....
