Cochin Thread!!!

Black Cochin Bantams,
Thanks for the pictures. Those are some absolutely beautiful birds.
Thank you also for the picture of your Grandson. That smile is priceless.

What to breed depends on what you want the results to be. I would not use the splash to work on Blue.
Blue x Blue = 50% Blue, 25% Black and 25% Splash;
Blue x Splash = 50% Blue and 50% Splash;
Blue x Black = 50% Blue and 50% Black;
Splash x Black = 100% Blue;
Splash x Splash = 100% Splash;
Black x Black = 100% Black.

And here are a few close ups of that "Pyle" colored frizzle cockerel I hatched. As he matures more he is getting more reddish tones and pure red feathers in. He has one feather on his back that is black and perfectly laced with the reddish color. That last pic above is a shot of his cushion.

BlackCochinBantams, nothing like teaching the young ones to appreciate quality!!! He should be proud of his accomplishments. Builds character to breed a winner. Builds character to loose to a better specimine and still be proud of your accomplishments. Go Grandson Go!!!
Mr.Ree, those birds look like lovely white clouds!! And the boy with the red coming in, I'll be curious to know how he develops!

Thank you very much! Cant wait to see what he looks like as he feathers in more. My plan for him is to breed him to Red and Buff smooth hens and work on my own Buff and Red Cochins in frizzle and smooth.

I posted a picture of Mabel my partridge/buff cochin a while back. She is getting bigger and fluffier. I just love her <3 I also ended up adopting her sister from the same breeder. This sister is much more friendly. She will sit on my boots until I pick her up for a snuggle. Unfortunately she has an eye issue. It looks as if she was pecked in the eye before I got her. I took my chances. It has gotten better. No infection. The inner lid just looks swollen. it won't retract or something..

Odd. She is very sweet.

Here is Mabel in her fluffy glory
