A few pictures I took today~ It was a gorgeous day, a little cool and windy but the sun was shining. Everyone got their pens cleaned and had cornbread before bedtime

Can all of you "pros" please help me out. I need assistance in how do you sex a Cochin when they are young? Why are the signs to look for? I have some that have combs and wattles that look like a roo but are females. A friend told me when a chick is first born you can feel the feathers at the end of a wing and a male will have a spur in the wing - is this true? What is true advise and what is the myth buster advise?????

I've never heard of a spur in the wing...
I think some hens are just more well-endowed then others in the comb and wattle department?

I have a hard time sexing my chicks. I know Mandy had posted a picture of the wings of young chicks showing the different feather tips. I still can't figure it out though, I just wait for them to grow up. The little Roos will have a comb that is more red than a pullet.

0 o On this thread at one time someone said that the boys are shaped like the first o and the girls are shaped like the second o. This can be used for a good guess on chick sex but nothing is certain. I never heard of the spur on the wing feather either. :D

PS I mean the o shape if you look at their back from above them.
