Cochins and bantam cochins

Hi, does anyone know if bantam cochin roosters can breed with standard cochin hens? I bought 6 straight run bantam chicks and 5 of them ended up being roasters. I wanted to get more bantams but every place I can find only sell straight run... if I buy standard cochin hens will they be able to breed?

Hello and welcome! may I suggest finding a Cochin thread? I know bantys may try to breed with a standard but I have no knowledge of if it will take or the outcome if it does. Good luck with your flock.

Go to "where am I, where are you", in the social forum, you can locate and post on your state thread.

While you are there ask if anyone has cochins. Try the hatcheries, some of them sell sexed chicks for an additional price. I think "My Pet Chicken," also sells bantam cochins, if they aren't sold out for months.

A bantam rooster can definitely breed with a full size hen (as long as that hen isn't a Malay!)
