Cochins...Good layers?

I don't have any standards but my bantam cochins lay about 4 or 5 eggs a piece each week. We have 2 that are 5 years old and they lay 1 egg a week each.

My 2 Cochin girls are pretty good layers, i get almost an egg a day from them, they miss once in a while but about 5-6eggs from each bird a week...I've been very impressed with them this year.

my other banties have also been laying wonderfully this year too..must be something in the air...

No, cochins arent very good layers. Apparently, the closer to show stock they are, the worse of a layer they are..

to be honest, my hatchery cochin is laying pretty well... and egg every other day

are they good brooders?

I've read that they are very good brooders which is rarer among large breeds but again don't have any experience with this. I would like to get a chochin or two to raise my new stock each year.

In general my cochins lay plenty of eggs. There is a couple of them that don't lay too well. They are bantams and bred for show. Cochins are great setters much better than silkies. Silkies just don't have the right feathering and are not too smart for setters.

My purebreds are about 8-10 years old and lay about a one egg a week. I haven't been able to "move them on" because they look and act like such little old ladies. They look like older women you see wearing big droopy bras- like Ma Kettle. They put themselves to bed at about 4pm, which is also amusing. For the most part, they are pretty kind to the newcomers that dart around them.
