Cockerel attacking hens

I have a 2 and a half month old cockerel that keeps jumping on certain pullets I have. He jumps on them and bites the tops of thier heads. Is this normal? Should I being stopping him from doing this?

He’s young... he’s also practicing his mating skills.

This is totally normal, like @HuffleClaw said he is young and just testing out how to mate properly... he will chase them around and grab onto their head feathers, soon he will learn how to mate properly

It looks terrible but that is chicken amore.

I agree, i believe he's just trying to learn his mating skills. In time he should become more suave and less crazy. Just keep an eye on them, be sure he doesn't get too rough on the pullets.

Normal, but not always pleasant for any being involved or observing.
Don't stop him but if he is getting too rowdy(pinning them down or chasing them incessantly) or hurting the pullets, you might need to remove him, to another enclosure or another home or the freezer.

Now when you need to decide..... do you want a male bird in your flock?

True, if he gets nutty and starts to visibly hurt your girls a cock blocking may be in order.
@aart is right about that, some do get a bit out of hand.

Thank you all for your advice. I will keep an eye on him. So far he has just been jumping on them and biting, no pinning or drawing blood.
