Cockerel savaged Hen

I think suturing is too late, and keeping the site covered in ointment is best. Maluka honey, Silvadene, or Neosporine, in that order, likely will work well.
She's eating and walking around, wonderful!
Good food and more time, and it's going to heal.

@Folly's place @Wyorp Rock @Eggcessive Thank you so much, all of your posts have been extremely helpful!! Unfortunately, I was not set up for this sort of thing happening and could not get it sutured right away. I am going to keep on the Chlorhexidine flushing, ointment on the wound and get some colloidal silver in her water (which I have already and is an excellent idea) thank you. I do wish I would have been more prepared and that has been one more lesson on the list of many I have learned from this incident. I have some fabric scraps that I will try to fashion into something to help keep that skin flap closer to her and keep her from the wing it as it heals.
Thanks to everyone for all your shared thoughts and wisdom! It has made this crazy situation much more bearable!! :)

Sending warm thoughts your way! I hope she has a speedy recovery!:hugs

You could make her a Hen Saddle from an old pair of pants. It would protect her wound from pecking and help keep it clean.
Just Google how to make a hen saddle. You find directions for sales that stay on by elastic and ones that you slip over their wings to keep them on. And of course you can always order one online, but once you see how easy thay are to build, you'll make your own after that.
Praying for your hen! :fl
