Cockerel trying to mate Duck !

Hi guys today I saw my cockerel trying to mate my duck , I rushed to him to stop him.
He started crowing since two days. I don't have hens Is this the time to bring some. He is going to be 4 months old after one week.
Will the hens lay eggs ?
