Cockerels are beating the living heck out of each other

I have a lot of roosters running around...from Serama to Giant...at least 50. Once awhile there will be a.fight but most times everyone gets along. The turkeys and guinea play referees. ..lol. Their are some that will keep going...those need to be separated.

We have rooster fights every spring. Your boys are trying to establish who's the boss rooster. They'll fight until they figure it out, and then be fine until next year, when one of the subordinates will try to be top roo again.

I find that my yard works most smoothly when the boss roo is much bigger than the others. Then the fights don't last long because he wins quickly. :)

You have three choices--separate them for their whole lives, sell all but one, or let them work it out. I, too, turn the hose on fights that are getting too intense. Either that or I'll chase them off and stop the fight. I'M the biggest baddest roo on the farm. :)
This is how I see it as well. I have barred plymouth rocks that have FINALLY worked it out. We had a goshawk attack and they fought one another without heading for cover. For a good 2 weeks one always had blood around his comb. It was terrible.

They are now not fighting anymore. The winner is accepted leader, and the other stays in his place. If he walks out of line, he'll get a firm peck but no longer fights back.

Do you find it's your turkey hens playing referee?

My hens are bossy with the roosters!

Ooo scary Betty....
