Coconut oil?

I’ve read about chicks loving coconut oil and believe me my baby chicks are loving it..how often and how much should they get? Can they get to much?
All good questions. I use coconut oil for rabbit ear mites and advise it for that. I've never heard of it for chickens. Wish you luck.

It is literally pure fat (being an oil). So that would be the biggest concern. That being said, it will slide right thru your birds (and you), so it is not a huge deadly concern. Only would be a problem if they are consuming it daily as a significant portion of their overall feed intake. I would treat it like any treat, at no more than 10% of their intake. As I am sure you have found, it melts around 75 degrees. So I would assume it would not fill up their crop any more than water would. But it may satiate them prematurely and cause them to eat less.....which could be bad since it would impact their vitamin and mineral intake.
