Chaf is a by-product of roasting coffee. I recently read an article about using it as litter in a coop. I have found a supplier (free). Has anyone had any experience with using it. I may even mix it with the shavings just to make them go farther. I love the idea of using something that would otherwise be discarded and free is an awesome price. What do you think?

I never have used it but think its a tad dusty, almost powdery. Having worked in the refuse industry and having first hand experience with it. Its quite absorbant as well as aromatic, the dust cloud that was formed would last a while. If I could get some and give it a trial I would.Your idea of mixing it with shavings might be a great idea, but would strongly suggest wearing a dust mask and do it outside not in the coop.
