Not really will be cleaning the coops scraping tables that is .... Pork roast for dinner ...
not allot plans otherwise .. How is your day shaping up ?
So far so good! Monotonous stuff. Cleaning, changing price tags, orders. All has to be done, though. The sun is out, but cold today.

Hi everyone:frow

Back to winter here. Cloudy, high of 33. My robin that I have been seeing and hearing for the past 5 days has fallen silent. I've been working on finishing drywall in our bathroom.

When we bought our home The bathroom was a closet with just the tub and toilet in it. Right next door was the pantry which had a window in it that was too small for the opening they had cut in the wall. It was the first thing to go. I swear I kept hearing a rattling sound and followed it to the pantry one night where I discovered that the window was being held in by four nails and there was almost an inch gap to the outside and was happily rattling around. Next day, I tore it out and sealed up the hole. Next I tore out the wall separating the bath from the pantry and sealed up the door going from the kitchen to the pantry.

Nice big bathroom! Right now we have a shower as we both like showers. We've talked about putting in a tub but as we are both aren't getting any younger, the shower is very convenient. DH put new lights in over the vanity for us and I needed to finish the drywall we put in (no, there was no drywall in the bath, just one inch insulation foam. 3 years ago we redid the outside wall, and added insulation) So my afternoon has been spent mudding out the drywall where it meets the ceiling which I'd been procrastinating forever. 1 wall down three to go.

In the meantime, my bad neck is aching, the muscles are spasming and I'm determined to get this job done while I still can.

@Shadrach, sure hope your rooster is going to be okay.

Thanks micro, he's going to be fine. He got into a bush before the hawk struck and all he's got is a single talon hole just below his neck at the back. He's sulking with his tribe atm.

Glad to hear that @Shadrach. Are raptors protected in Spain the way they are here? We have Owls, Hawks and Bald Eagles here. We can't do a thing if they go after our fowl. DH asked me what would I do if one got tangled up in my run netting and I said I'd call the dept of conservation and tell them to come get their stupid bird before I turned my stupider roosters loose on him. They might be evenly matched with the hawk hung up in a net and maybe the hawk would learn a lesson and not come back...y'know. All the other hawks would be making fun of it.

Will the younger rooster take up the position of lieutenant under Red, Penny?

Right now I'm watching to see who is going to take up the rank under Tut as I'm about a week away from pulling the extra cockerels from the main coop. I like to keep two strong roosters with my hens for safety sake.

I'm debating whether to move out my older roosters who are content to set on the roost bar watching the younger birds be stupid, or let them stay and live out their days in the main coop. My oldest is 3 now. Usually the older birds in my flock get deposed as flock leaders after two years when a younger, stronger cockerel shows up.

They seem to self retire themselves.
