And this is why , for the most part, I prefer animals.

Man's inhumanity to man has always been known to me, but perhaps never so much as right now. That being said, I will admit that I am a jaded old man.

@microchick any chance he has a congestive heart problem?
I don't think so, Sour. We've listened to his heart and lungs several times and we should have a heart that is as strong as his is. No murmurs or gallops. Even his lungs sounded clear.

We thought maybe he had a form of tracheobronchitis or just bronchitis as he was hacking up mucous. We started him on an antibiotic we have on hand and he responded almost immediately to it so we are going with that.

He and his sissy are 9 now so anything is possible. When they get to be that age they cough or sneeze and it's panic time.

I have an 11.5 year old and his 11 year old half sister. Both outside dogs and somewhat arthritic. I know that decision time is coming soon, but so far they are wintering okay.

We're getting the tail end of somebody's storm, that's for sure. Now the temp has dropped 15+ degrees, to 60, since about 9:00 am. It's going down into the 30's tonight. It was about 74 last night.
Trade ya, Clue!

It was 6 when I got up this morning and 20 now. I keep telling myself it is going to hold on, it's going to be 66 on Wednesday. The mud won't be fun but it will dry up sooner or later in time for the spring rains.

Hey George that is just what I asked.

I know little sis, did the dog with heart failure thing before and he doesn't present like that.

We said if he didn't improve in 24 hours we would take him to the vet and he improved steadily once he was on antibiotics.

Today he's out with his sister running around like Secretariat. His cough is 95% better. He's eating, drinking, no fluid in his lungs, and no murmurs, gallops or tachycardia.

If he gets symptomatic again or has another bout of this he will be to the vet. He has to go next month for a rabies shot and check up and we plan to mention it then and let her check him over.

Lordie, I'm coughing more than he is!:th
