Coffee's ready...

For some reason I prefer adding the hazelnut creamer to my coffee rather than using the hazelnut flavored coffee, but some days it's really nice to taste just coffee.

Oh, you dirty dog, pbj.... I'm setting the trap at the front gate to "stun" just in case I see you. You know I'm overloaded with roos. Thinking they're going to freezer camp next Sunday.

Are you taking them there yourself or having someone drive them there for you?

I wish the ones I need to get rid of were a little older I'd come along for the ride. Not enough meat on them yet. Well except the one that hatched on August 6th - for two months old I sometimes can't pick him out of the flock of grown birds anymore. The pullet I hatched with him is just as big and I am hoping for good dark BCM type eggs out of her.

ETA: My dishwasher is running!!!!! I have not had a sink or water in the kitchen since July and haven't had a dishwasher since 2003 - so no I'm not a dirty dog, but a clean dog!

Ah ha, first up today. I just finished wrapping up frozen summer squash casserole that I made last night. I freeze it in the pans I cook it in, then take it out of the pans to store in the freezer. T hen later in the winter, I put it back in the pans to cook. My garden it still producing, so I'm still putting things by. Makes for a long day though.
Yesterday got all the siding done on the new coop - next is putting in the windows. Have a great day everyone!

Driving to freezer camp? They'll have a date with hubby on the outskirts of the hayfield with a sharp knife and a bucket of clean cold water. We're not driving anywhere. Farm life, it's beautiful but brutal sometimes.

Ya'll plan to come down for the Madison County Covered Bridge Festival this weekend. If you wondered if Fall has arrived, the city of Winterset is all dolled up in her fall colors, pumpkins, scarecrows, and the like. If it ain't tied down, they're selling it at the craft fair, and the music will be good too.
The covered bridge chickens and I will be keeping it on the low-down. Once the Madison County chamber finds out that I have a covered bridge coop, the tourists will flock. My chickens will be famous.

Good morning from Arizona. I just finished off the coffee. I am good to go now. Down, will come the garden post and wire fencing. Prepare to expand the pen. I now have the playhouse/coop ready. I am getting so close to getting my new Cochin girls. It is hard wait. Then I see a photo that Opa posted. Bam! I have been hit again with chicken fever.

Opa, thank, you for posting the info about the covered feeder. A little pricey, but looks like that is just what I need. I do think I will save up for that one. Maybe two would be better. The photos of your birds, Wow, amazing. thx again.

fatboys farm, sorry that you all are getting so much rain. We can hardly squeeze a drop out of the clouds. You may have to get them a boat. Then to have coon problems on top of that. Hope they have not done any damage.

Sorry Chickbond - I was being metaphorical - I was just asking if you were going to slaughter them yourself or have someone do it.

Someone say something about a feeder where they don't waste the feed?

Fortunately right now I have a cleaning crew of 8 young chicks that get most of what is spilled, but I am about ready to get rid of most of them.

Hope everyone is having a nice day - my hubby is off work and working on putting up shelving and a closet rod in the closet of my new mud room. Just in time for winter coats!
