Believe me if I could get there I'd be there. I just gave some eggs to Trish to set for us. I've really got to go to Alabama and I don't trust anyone else to watch them for me. I should have loaned her my new Gen 1588. She only has a couple of LG's..

I guess I will just have to keep them, then. When they all turn out to be girls, you are gonna regret not having them.

I shipped 15 of them to Florida, and these 10 are the brooder-mates.

Good morning, chicken framers!

I'm sorry it is so cold there, Oesdog and Karl, but you can send some of it our way if you'd care to share. It has been hot and dry all week and my plants and garden are looking miserable. Well, part of that is due to the chickens discovering that broccoli leaves are tasty. So much for those..... The high today is 89, but starting tomorrow it will cool down a bit. I'm looking forward to it.

You won't believe what happened with one of my Ameraucana babies. Now, keep in mind I got these from a reputable Ameraucana breeder, 'Halo'. She takes great pride in breeding to the standard, and has a beautiful bunch of birds that lay nice blue eggs. I'm looking at the bigger of the two, and I realize - why do her legs look so funny? They are feathered!! I have an Ameraucana with feathered legs!! I wrote to her and told her, and I don't think she would have believed me if it weren't for the pictures! She sent FOUR messages back (all of them with many exclamation points and capital letters), and said she has never ever seen that happen in all the hundreds of Ameraucanas she has bred. She checked all her birds and not one has even the start of a feather on their legs! I can't wait to see what she looks like grown up. I want to start my own line of "Booted Ameraucana". Here is a picture of her feet:

It's like I won the freak genetic anomaly lottery! First the broody/great mother White Leghorn, now a feather footed Ameraucana!

ooooch I stand corrected. In the U. S. 5 below is 37 F. below freezing,I"m thinking you guys use centigrade scale? 5 below would be the equal of our 25 F. Or balmy in january around here. But we all suffer the same .When I lived in Hawaii the rainy season had 68 F. nights and we thought it was time to roll out the blankets.

Well the temperature is ok tonight. No Frost but the wind is howling off the sea and there are a lot of things blowing about outside. Hopefully it wont be too bad.
Last few years we lost bits off the house and watched the wind blow through one side of the greenhouse and out the other! Not much left of it and so we had to re biuld. This one is cemented into the ground and all the glass is fixed in with glue!!!! -

Anyhow to bed - hope you are all ready for the winter!!!!!

Oh well only one on here again - Is there anyone out there????????? Morning and no ones on so am after 3 coffees !!!! As no one was on I just thought I would edit this.

Good morning chicken wranglers
Oesdog Is that your daughter? The baby is beautiful! The night was frozen and I had to turn on the furnace this morning ,but fall weather is unpredictable and tonight will be warmer.
I had the 11 year old put the chickens out yesterday and today he did it again. It is nice to have help on the farm.
My wife turns 46 sunday and her party is sat. so I got my work cut out for me getting ready.
See ya'll next week God Bless!
