Blue is a legbar? He's very pretty and I'd be hard pressed to give him up.

Yes he is a cream Legbar - And I have NO choice !!!!!! I so would love to keep him but he is LOUD really Loud!!!!!!
So I either have him killed or he goes. I love him soooooooo much I know I will cry.
I so wanted to keep him but giving him up means he has a chance of a life.

I can;t believe he grew so beautiful!!!!!!! The trouble is here that no one really has the interest as I do. DH posted him free to a good home!!!!!
SO I wont even get any money for him. DH doesn;t understand chickens at all he just thinks a chicken is a chicken. NO understanding of breed or concept of genetics.
If I had all the choices I would move house and breed loads of Chicken babies from Blue!!!!

Here is a link to a thread on the legbars - you can see the older Rooster in their photos and you can see my Blue is just starting to get those lovely tail feathers!!!
Blue is only 7 months so is still growing out the larger feathering. His crown is still getting bigger too! He needs to fill out a bit I think as well but is looking good
when I see him up agains other Legbars.

I got some chicken books and gardening mags. at the library yesterday.

Today, I think I am going to do some sewing / mending and spend the rest of the day looking thru by books / mags.

In other words, I think I am declaring today a "ME" day! I haven't had one of those in a few months.

Everyone have a great day!

I've got to get the kids up and the chickens taken care of BEFORE my "me" day can start!

See ya'll later

Oesdog: I am sorry you have to give up Blue. It's my understanding that legbars lay blue eggs. Is that right? I wonder what we have over here that compares to legbars? I completely understand as I have some I would like to keep but can't and folks don't want to pay for the work I've put in to them.

Everyone else , up early, my mind is running 60 miles an hour over many things. Have a nice day.

Yes they do lay blue eggs and they are also Auto sexing - which means you can tell imediately when they are hatched what sex the chicks are.
Toffee coloured are the hens and the yellow ones are th Roosters.

I don;t think you have many Legbars over there. They are a rare breed here too
The best thing is that Blue will go to someone who has Legbar Hens so he will go for breeding. Which for him that is very good news indeed.
Having little Omlet go to will be great for both of them.

Oesdog - not so good for old me though I shell miss them guys and doubtless will shed a tear I guess later when they leave me.

Yes she is a Brahma. Although Sussex are a little similar the give away is the feathery bloomers on a Brahma.
Sorry to hear about your sons school probs. What age do they start school over there? I have a friend who works in the reception class at a local primary school over here and she said that they are a lot of children who aren't completely toilet trained. But the school making a big deal out of it is only going to distress your son and make him feel embarrassed which will make the problem worse not better. Give the school a little time, it make make your son feel confused and upset if you move him after he's only just started. I would suggest you give it until the Easter holidays and see how he settles and if the toilet training issue can be resolved.
Perhaps he just needs more reminders to go to the toilet and lots of praise for being a big boy when he takes himself there.

Yes, I just meant I like both of those breeds. My BF saw Brahmas at the chicken show we went to and is quite taken with them, so he may get a "gift" sometime!
I can't give the school time - they are the ones kicking him out - not me pulling him out. And I agree, it is causing more stress than necessary and that is part of my frustration. I wouldn't be so anxious about it if they weren't threatening to kick him out after he has been there since August - made friends - adjusted - loves the school. Even if you remind him, sometimes it just seems to leak out 20 minutes after he just used the bathroom. It really does seem to be a problem with the muscle not staying closed/ spasming. I was giving him little candies when he used the potty when I first started, and it's taken so long he has four cavities!!!

Well, gotta run... crazy day. I would be upset if I had to get rid of such a hansome boy, too Oesdog.
